Monroe, WA – On October 26, 2023, VFW Members from six VFW District 1 Posts came together to honor the loss of our friend and Comrade Jerry Stackpole. Jerry was a member of VFW 7511 for 51 years. Jerry’s friendship, guidance, and corporate knowledge is dearly missed.
Jerry’s Granddaughter and 7511 Auxiliary Member, Trish Stackpole wrote a touching tribute to her Grandpa, which reads in part, “He was an Army veteran, a business owner, a lineman, a lover of everything with a motor (particularly tractors), an adventurer, an engineer, and a certified smartass. You really could not spend more than a few minutes in his company without lots of laughing and eye rolling. Above all, I really hope that he is remembered for his generosity. He volunteered for and supported countless causes over his life. He was the Post Commander of the VFW 7511 many times. Volunteered with his community center for decades. He volunteered at the drug and alcohol treatment center and helped many people on their journey to become sober. He also supported the Monroe Historical Society. Despite being on hospice, he was still doing volunteer work in his last weeks.”
